Full Time Students - Distance Education
Camden Haven High offers study for students from Years 7 to 12.
There are strict guidelines which have to be met.
Generally, students include:
Geographic Isolation - will need to provide a Distance Certificate signed by the principal of the nearest public school. The principal of the enrolling school/centre will determine isolation.
Students travelling - will need to be absent from school for an extended period, between six (6) and twelve (12) months, because of travelling commitments within Australia may make application to enrol at the distance education centre closest to their NSW address. A comprehensive itinerary must be submitted with the application for enrolment.
Students travelling overseas- who are temporarily resident or travelling overseas may make application for enrolment at the distance education centre closest to their NSW address. A comprehensive itinerary must be submitted with the application for enrolment.
Under this category, temporarily is defined as:
- a holiday of up to one year’s duration
- transfer of parental duties (business, study, missionary, etc) for a period of one year.
Students with Medical Conditions - may be deemed eligible if under the care of a medical specialist. - if mental illness is cited, then the school learning support team & Dept of Education & Training Office support must first be sought. After this, with School Education Director support, students may be eligible to enrol.
Students with a medical condition deemed by the specialist medical practitioner to be long term will be required to provide a medical certificate at the beginning of each academic year.
Specialist medical documentation must accompany the application and:
- clearly identify the medical condition
- explicitly state the condition that prevents the student from attending a school, including a special school, on a regular basis
- specify the length of time the medical certificate covers.
Students Exhibiting Severe Behaviour Difficulties - if the school learning support team and Dept of Education & Training Office team have exhausted all alternatives, then, with School Education Director support the student may be eligible to enrol.
Vocationally Talented Students - may be eligible with support from their State body and the local School Education Director
Young Parents - generally for students who are pregnant or in their first year of parenthood
Extraordinary Circumstances - students with unforseen and extraordinary circumstances, who’s enrolment in distance education is supported by the School Education Director may be eligible for enrolment.
This is only a brief overview, full details are available in the “Categories and Procedural Guidelines for Enrolment in Schools-Based Distance Education” booklet.
